Perfect Unplanned Day!

What a day! It's a little weird being a stay-at-home-mom after having been completely immersed in a career for nearly 20 years. Well, a SAHM who owns a business. But still, when you don't use daycare or have a nanny or nurse or cleaning lady, etc., your baby, hubby and home come first and business places a distant next.

Anyway, the solitude takes some getting used to. I imagined spending so much more time with friends with babies or family, but, thus far, it's not been the case. At first it was disconcerting and now it can be pure heaven.

Jack and I had such an amazing day. It started off with Dada helping Jack open his very first card. Mimi and Papa sent Jack a Halloween card, which he loved. He pointed to the silly character and played with the card and seemed excited it was just for him.

We threw on our coats and headed to the yard. Jack's tree had lost nearly all its leaves and looked stark. But the day was warm and the ground was still covered with brilliantly colored leaves. We goofed around in the leaves for a bit before we took off to the zoo.

It was a stunning day, yet we, again, had the zoo to ourselves. It was probably the coolest trip the to zoo evah! We giggled at the lamas and these giant-looking Guinea Pigs. Next, we saw Bear Cats. Wow! They were confusing, but cool Jack said, "Ca Ca," which means kitty in Jack speak. But these dudes were huge and seriously looked like a cross between a bear and cat. Wild.

While there a peacock sought us out. He was probably looking for some grub and was not afraid to get really really close to us. I tossed him a few Cheerios to get him out of Jack's face. But as soon as he walked away, Jack went after him. It was amazing to watch Jack interact with the Bear Cats to the right and the peacock to the left.

We strolled through the Australian Outback hoping to see a Kangaroo hop. Per usual, they were lounging around in the sun and not much more. Jack tried like heck to crawl to them, but we wouldn't let him go. Finally, the roos decided to hop. Three got up and nibbled a little then... Boing Boing Boing... of they went. What a treat!

We got pretty close to a bear, the camels and a giant pumpkin! After that, we went grocery shopping at Westborn and came home and made chicken pot pie.

Perfect day... just Jack and me.
